Customer support and fee waiver
Our hearts go out to those affected by the ongoing bushfires in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia and we're deeply saddened by the devastating impact it's had on the environment and natural habitats. If you’re a Cleanaway customer impacted by the fires, we’d like to help.
Cleanaway will be waiving late payment fees for December and January invoices, as well as waiving unsuccessful service fees. Our customer service and sales teams are also providing a range of local solutions to help, including bin donations.
Call your account manager for more information or if we can support you in any way.
Donation Matching Program
Cleanaway will match employee’s personal and team donations made in December and January towards bushfire-related charities. Any bushfire relief fundraisers run by depots, offices or with customers will also be included in this Donation Matching Program. Contact your account manager if you'd like to work with us to organise a fundraiser.
To ensure we're making a meaningful difference, we have selected two charities that support areas of the community that may not be receiving as much support as other charity efforts.
Cleanaway volunteer firefighters
Many of our employees are also volunteer firefighters who have bravely attended some of the dangerous fire areas around the country, and we thank them for their courage and service. We also have a number of employees volunteering their time with other important services.
Cleanaway has extended our volunteer policy to 2 weeks or 10 working days fully paid volunteer leave, for those employees involved in bushfire relief efforts.
Our employees and communities impacted by fire
Many of our employees, their families and their communities have been impacted by the fires in a range of ways. We will be working with those impacted to provide support that is needed, and may include local charitable initiatives.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is also always available for anyone who is seeking counselling or further assistance. Call 1300 361 008. LifeWorks (who operate our Employee Assistance Program) also offer a Bush Fire Crisis line for the wider community, accessed via the same telephone number, which you can share with anyone you think may benefit from support.
St Kilda office fundraiser
Cleanaway St Kilda Road team members recently contributed to raising $765.50 for bushfire relief at a lunch fundraiser.
The amount will be doubled and donated to World Wildlife Fund and Firesticks under Cleanaway’s Donation Matching Program.
Thanks to everyone involved in hosting the event and supporting the cause.
Port Adelaide office 'Silent Auction'
The Cleanaway team in Port Adelaide recently raised $1,106 for the restoration of habitats on Kangaroo Island and the area affected by the Cudlee Creek fire.
The amount will be donated to Nature Foundation SA’s Wildlife Recovery Fund and matched by Cleanaway under Cleanaway’s Donation Matching Program for bushfire relief.
The ‘Silent Auction’ fundraiser was highly successful with many team members donating wine, candles and chocolates, and bids coming in from as far as Mount Gambier! To make things even more interesting, the team also auctioned a “rock star car park” and General Manager, Conan Hookings, dressed in a kilt for a day.
Bushfire relief charity cricket
Cleanaway donated general waste and recycling bins at a Bushfire Disaster Relief Charity T20 match in Perth. The Osborne Park Cricket Club raised $7,500 for the Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation and the Rural Fire Service Association.
The teams also dedicated a moment of silence and a few kind words for the people and animals affected by the bushfires. Pictured from left to right are Health and Safety Business Partner Mitchell Domanski and his son, Lucas who plays for the club.
