"One of my favourite accomplishments to date is that I somehow managed to continue developing relationships with people, which wasn't easy during the COVID-19 where I was scheduling remotely. I didn't even meet any of the drivers face to face for over 18 months." said Rebecca.

As an operations coordinator, Rebecca Crouch deals with a lot of different people each day.

She wouldn’t want it any other way.

Rebecca was recently named Winner for Continuous Improvement in Cleanaway’s Star Awards, which recognise and reward our most dedicated team members helping to make a sustainable future possible.

It is a recognition that stems from the genuine passion she has for people.

“I was honoured just being nominated for the Continuous Improvement award but being announced the winner was unbelievable! I don’t do my job for recognition, but it is wonderful to know that my peers appreciate the work and effort I have been putting in.”

Rebecca has been with Cleanaway’s Hydrocarbons team at Dandenong South for two and a half years. In the course of her work, she finds purpose in developing relationships with the people she crosses paths with.

“I would describe my role as challenging, but there is lots of fun along the way. As a scheduler there are lots of variables, working with lots of different people each day to ensure our customers internally and externally are provided with exceptional service.”

Another aspect about working with Cleanaway that Rebecca is particularly proud of is learning more about waste.

“I came from the health sector and it never really occurred to me how waste can be safely disposed of or recycled.”

Rebecca’s message to anyone who is considering nominating someone in the Star Awards is powerful in its simplicity.

“Share people’s achievements. Let them know that they and their efforts are appreciated.”
