Cleanaway Ryde Resource Recovery Centre

Cleanaway Ryde Resource Recovery Centre accepts a range of solid waste from commercial, industrial, domestic and council customers. Our Cleanaway Ryde RRC is part of the sites that help waste management in NSW. This includes wet and mixed material, tree trunks, large branches, untreated timber, and specific volumes of expanded plastics. We also offer free recycling for pre-sorted loads of selected material such as paper and cardboard, steel and aluminium cans, scrap metals, vehicle batteries and limited quantities of sump oil.

Cleanaway Ryde does not accept asbestos, SMF, dusty loads, car bodies, liquid and hazardous wastes, pesticides, fuels, excluded chemicals, radioactive waste and loads comprising more than 50% of expanded plastic by volume.

Cans

Aluminum and steel cans accepted.

Paper & Cardboard

Clean newspapers, writing papers, books (hard and soft cover) and cardboard boxes accepted. Non-commercial quantities only

A minimum charge of $90.00 applies for wet and dry material and a minimum charge of $67.80 for for garden organics.


Mattresses

Mattresses are charged at $100.70 each. An ensemble is charged as two mattresses. Limit of one ensemble or two individual mattresses per visit. Please call Customer Service on 13 13 39 for disposal of larger quantities.

Paint (household quantities)

Charges apply to container size, not the amount of paint in the container. Paint is charged at $6.95 per litre of container capacity. A minimum charge of $9.00 applies. Water or oil based paint only. No thinners, solvents or paint related products. Water based paints and oil based paints must be kept separate. Phone 13 13 39 for more information. Label all paint containers. Other wastes are not accepted in the paint disposal area.

Asbestos

Asbestos is accepted at Elizabeth Drive and Lucas Heights. Minimum charges apply. Please contact our Customer Service Centre on 13 13 39 for acceptance criteria and further information.

Dry material

Mixed quantities of general waste including household junk, furniture, mixed paper, plastic, glass, metal, timber, office partitioning and other dry material. Loads must not contain asbestos, food, plant matter or liquids. Loads containing garden organics and/or food waste will be charged as putrescible material.

Fire extinguishers and gas cylinders

LPG and fire extinguishers up to 9kg each are accepted, at a charge of $3.37 per 1kg of total container capacity. A limit of 2 cylinders per day applies. LPG car cylinders are not accepted.

Glass bottles and jars

Glass bottles and jars are accepted and charged as dry waste. Putrescible material (eg mixed waste containing food) Mixed quantities of general waste that may include food and garden organics.

E-waste

E-waste (limited to televisions, computers and computer peripherals) are accepted from residents and small businesses at Auburn, Belrose, Lucas Heights, Rockdale and Ryde. E-waste is charged at $407.00/t, minimum charge applies.
  • Products must not have been exposed to radiation, biological or chemical hazards.
  • Under no circumstances will the product be returned once disposed of.

Excluded wastes

Any material that does not meet our conditions of acceptance will be excluded. This includes radioactive, clinical and biosecurity wastes and goods labelled as dangerous. This information can be taken as an indication of acceptance criteria. However, acceptance conditions may vary due to changes in license and operating conditions. Please contact Customer Service on 13 13 39 for the latest information.

Expanded plastics

Expanded plastics such as styrofoam and polystyrene are accepted at all sites. A minimum charge of $110.16 applies.

Garden organics

Small tree branches, grass clippings, prunings and weeds are accepted for mulching and composting if pre-sorted from mixed waste and excessive amounts of soil. Tree branches must be less than 1 metre in length and 15 centimetres in diameter. Loads containing materials such as untreated timber, palm trees, bamboo, bricks, metal or general rubbish will be charged as putrescible material. Please note that Lucas Heights does not accept treated or untreated timber.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners are charged at $49.50/unit. Security burial special waste (eg asbestos sheeting, SMF, dusty waste and bulky loads) For acceptance criteria and further information please phone our Customer Service Centre on 13 13 39.

Tree trunks and large branches

Stumps and branches under 15 centimetres in diameter and 3 metres in length are accepted at Lucas Heights. Larger material are accepted for disposal as mixed waste.

Whole car tyres

Up to 5 whole car tyres without the metal rims are accepted per visit, and charged at $59.70 each.
