Quick facts:
- Cleanaway project value has increased, requiring Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) approval;
- Community information sessions to be held early May 2019 in Dardanup and Ferguson; and
- Cleanaway no longer pursuing 24-hour operating licence.
Cleanaway has today formally advised the Shire of Dardanup of its intention to withdraw all three development applications currently before the Shire.
Cleanaway were pursuing three development applications. Following advice received from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and the Shire of Dardanup, Cleanaway is preparing a revised application that consolidates and provides further information about its five-year plan for the site. This advice, as well as the value of the development now means that the application is required to be considered by the JDAP.
“Combining the applications means we are able to be clear with the community about our five-year plans for the site. In addition, due to the increase to project value, we are now required to go through the JDAP process,” said Damian Burton, Cleanaway WA General Manager.
“We have received extensive feedback from the community about our applications and in light of this we are revising and submitting our proposal mid to late-May.”
Cleanaway also confirm their plans to host two community information sessions in early May 2019 in Dardanup and Ferguson. Details of these events will be released shortly.
“We are 100 per cent committed to being a good neighbour and contributor to the Dardanup community, as such we intend to improve our engagement and will host information sessions in early May to talk through our JDAP application and plans for the site.”
Cleanaway also confirmed today its intention to reconsider its pursuit of a 24-hour operation at the landfill site.
“We have heard the community loud and clear, and we will not be pursuing a 24-hour operating license.”
“We are in the process of undertaking a further traffic impact assessment and we will continue to monitor truck speeds and work with the Shire who are responsible for approving truck routes.”
