Accelerating sustainability with CEFC

The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) has made available a $90 million corporate loan to Cleanaway. This corporate loan facility is designed to fast-track eligible clean energy projects that help us achieve best practice in sustainable waste management.

The clean energy goals of the CEFC have been a perfect fit with Cleanaway – to improve waste management, reduce carbon emissions and utilise renewable energy resources. With their assistance, moving away from traditional landfill solutions and investing in innovative waste management technologies can accelerate our efforts towards making a sustainable future possible.

The CEFC was established in 2012 by the Australian Government to increase investment in Australia’s transition to lower emissions.

So far, the CEFC financing has made possible:

Greenius waste and recycling e-learning

Launch of Greenius, a leading waste and recycling e-learning platform for residents, councils, schools and businesses, accessible to everyone for free on PC, mobile and tablet devices

Erskine Park Resource Recovery facility

Construction of a best-in-class resource recovery facility capable of processing up to 150,000 tonnes of waste in Erskine Park, NSW

Eastern Creek automated sorting line

Automated recycling sorting line at Eastern Creek capable of processing up to eight tonnes an hour of beverage containers to support the NSW Container Deposit Scheme

Additional projects that Cleanaway will use the finance for include organics processing, resource recovery, and renewable landfill gas management.
