The $31 million Fraser Coast Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at the Maryborough landfill is a state-of-the-art recycling centre built to meet the region's growing needs. Three times larger than the former Dundowran facility, it uses advanced sorting technology and automation to process up to 8,000 tonnes of mixed recyclables each year, including paper, cardboard, glass, aluminium and steel. Operational since April 2025, the facility improves recycling quality, reduces waste sent to landfill, and includes an expanded education space to support the community in developing better recycling habits.
