The Cleanaway Driver Academy is designed to provide training, support, and employment opportunities for people looking for a rewarding career as a heavy vehicle driver. As part of closing the gender gap in the waste management industry, our Driver Academy for women is committed to creating equitable opportunities by addressing barriers that may prevent women and non-binary individuals from entering the industry. Our goal is to foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment where everyone can thrive. Cleanaway also delivers Driver Academy programs tailored to support First Nations peoples, individuals living in regional and rural communities, and anyone seeking a new career direction. These programs include mixed groups and are designed to welcome people from all backgrounds.

Yellow Gear Academy

If you’re interested in a rewarding career as a heavy machinery operator, the Cleanaway Yellow Gear Academy is designed to provide training, support, and employment for individuals looking to pursue a rewarding career as a heavy machinery operator. Our academy aims to foster greater diversity and representation within the industry, welcoming applications from women, non-binary individuals, and those new to heavy machinery operations. The Academy involves a paid training program to become a fully qualified heavy machinery operator for plant equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, and forklifts. This includes both theoretical and practical training, industry-specific tickets, and ongoing support.

Cleanaway Apprenticeship Program

Want to learn a trade while you get paid? The Cleanaway Apprenticeship Program  helps young and adult apprentices gain hands-on experience in essential work, along with nationally recognised qualifications in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.  

Focussing on areas with high demand for skilled workers, the program provides participants with a solid foundation for long-term career success.  

To further support apprentices, our dedicated Early Careers Mentors guide and assist each participant’s journey every step of the way.
