Sustainability
Leading a circular economy
We strive to play an important role in Australia’s move towards more circular systems. By working with our partners, we ensure valuable resources are recovered from waste streams and returned to the value chain.
Examples of this include the successful support of container deposit schemes (CDS) in NSW, QLD, Victoria and Tasmania through our joint venture with TOMRA Cleanaway, as well as our commitment to extract energy from waste (EfW) from residual waste that cannot be recycled or composted. To support these efforts, we invest in best-in-class recycling infrastructure to ensure that recoverable materials are collected and processed efficiently and responsibly.
We are also leading the rollout of Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) collection systems and organics processing facilities for our customers to divert organic waste from landfill, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and returning valuable nutrients to the soil through composting.
