Stawell Landfill

Stawell Landfill

Status: Operational

Cleanaway became the owner and operator of the Stawell Landfill in Western Victoria in August 2020. The purchase of the landfill follows the acquisition of the Statewide Recycling collections and transfer station business based in Warrnambool and creates an integrated C&I waste management business servicing Western Victoria with a fleet of collections vehicles, a transfer station, a depot and now a landfill.

The Stawell Landfill is licenced to receive putrescible and prescribed waste including asbestos and category C soils which will create opportunities for Cleanaway to internalise volumes currently disposed of via third party landfill operators in Victoria.

The Stawell Landfill team servicing residents and businesses in the area includes Shane Drendel and Michael Wooley.

Stawell Landfill Community Reference Group (SLCRG)

Cleanaway has established a Community Reference Group for the Stawell Landfill to enable open discussions with local residents on matters of concern and regular updates on: landfill operations, future projects, rehabilitation, compliance, monitoring and environmental management. The meetings are attended by local residents and representatives from the EPA and Northern Grampians Shire.

More information about the structure and objectives of the SLCRG are outlined in the Terms of Reference
