Cleanaway collects commercial dry waste free from food, liquids and other wet materials which in some locations, can be turned into Process Engineered Fuel (PEF). PEF is a fossil-fuel alternative that can be used in high-energy industrial processes like powering cement kilns. This waste-to-energy solution provides a sustainable pathway for dry rubbish that would otherwise go directly to landfill.
We collect dry general waste from a range of different sources including manufacturing, retail, government and educational facilities, construction and demolition sites and recycling facilities (residual waste from the recycling process).
General dry waste recycling is currently only available to commercial customers in QLD, NSW and SA.
Non-recyclable packaging and materials
Includes soft and hard plastics that can’t be recycled elsewhere, plastic-lined packaging, laminated paper, waxed cardboard (such as fruit and vegetable boxes), and adhesive paper labels.
Mixed dry waste and textiles
Covers timber, construction and demolition materials such as plasterboard offcuts, insulation, untreated timber pallets, painted or stained wood, and broken wooden furniture, along with textiles like fabric offcuts, rags, clothing unsuitable for donation, and non-recyclable carpet underlay.
