This February marked one year of our operations in Tasmania. After initially entering the market with a four-man team offering front lift and rear lift services, we introduced a hook lift service six months later, which allowed us to extend our skip bin service to residential and commercial customers.

Regional Manager Matt Eiszele launched the service, with Ops Supervisor James Durkin and drivers Shane Butler and Matthew Styles. “From four team members and four trucks, we have since grown to a team of 23 dedicated staff and seven trucks across four sites, servicing businesses and residents throughout the state.” Matt said.

“The fleet has now expanded which includes a spare front lift truck, a new hook lift truck in Hobart and one more operating out of Launceston.”

Matt and the team are proud of how Cleanaway’s offering has been welcomed by the commercial and private sector. “The business is growing at a steady rate and we’ve won a number of significant accounts, which allows us to offer even more services to smaller businesses.” Matt explained. “We’re also providing front lift services for the Central Coast Council across the north west coast of Tasmania.”

The acquisition of SKM in November 2019 added the Derwent Park Material Recovery Facility and 15 new team members to the Cleanaway family. The site was reopened following safety and quality upgrades to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

“We also moved our southern operations from its previous temporary location to a permanent standalone site in Glenorchy, which is closer to central services and enables us to serve our customers better.” said Matt.
