Cleanaway launches mobile app

November 2, 2016

Cleanaway has launched its first mobile app, which will make it easier for residents to recycle, put their bins out in time and learn about sustainable habits such as how to avoid waste.
The free new app, which can be downloaded from the App Store on iTunes or the Google Play store, lets anyone find information about their local waste collection services, such as what can and can’t be recycled.

Dave Aardsma, Executive General Manager of Sales and Marketing, explains the app will allow for anyone to key in their post code and set up bin collection reminders no matter where they live in Australia.

“The unique feature of Cleanaway’s new app is that we haven’t limited it to our customers- residents from all over the country can enter their local post code to confirm their bin night,” Mr Aardsma says.

“The reason Cleanaway decided to make the app available to all Australians is because waste and recycling education is central to raising awareness about the importance of recycling and to changing behaviours, in order to make a sustainable future possible.

“Cleanaway have made it easy for anyone to double check what can and can’t be recycled because it is important we are all doing our bit to make sure waste is going into the right waste stream and we are all reducing our waste output.”

Users of Cleanaway’s new app will also have the ability to make an inquiry for a skip bin, browse education material and understand who they need to call in the event of a spill. The app’s current range of key features, include a direct link to your local council website through a postcode search, providing info on: general waste, recycling and green bins; hard waste; transfer and recycling stations, and contact details.  The app also includes the ability to book a skip; education programs and information; information on emergency spills and a direct email link for ‘feedback’.

The free Check-in app can be downloaded from the App Store on iTunes or the Google Play Store.  Find out more here.
