Cleanaway has been proudly delivering waste and recycling services to the City of Albany since 2004. In line with our mission to make a sustainable future possible in the communities where we operate, we are proud to sponsor the year-long Sustainable Heroes 2019 campaign – aimed at empowering the community to make sustainable choices in their everyday lives.
The campaign features a series of videos released once a month on topics like waste reduction, battery recycling, composting and much more, as set out in the City of Albany’s Waste and Recycling Guide.
The campaign also features Albany residents who are working hard to make a difference for the environment in their given field.
Addison shows how easy it is to recycle batteries so that they don’t end up in landfill.
In launching the campaign, the city’s Waste Sustainability Officer Julie Passmore said that everyone can be a Sustainable Hero. “We know that more than 90% of Albany residents want to reduce the amount of waste going into landfill, and there are many other things we can also do to reduce our footprint on the environment,” Ms Passmore said. “The Sustainable Heroes videos show that making a difference can be fun, simple and something we can all do.”
The Sustainable Heroes videos will be available on council’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages, the City of Albany’s website and promoted through its electronic newsletter. Videos can also be accessed through the Your City pointer on the City of Albany App and posters will be displayed at key locations including the Albany Public Library, City of Albany Administration building and Fossicker’s Tip Shop. Cleanaway is also supporting the campaign through our social media channels.
Along with our sponsorship of the campaign, Cleanaway look forward to supporting sustainable future initiatives in for years to come.
