Community Benefit Fund – Round 4 NOW OPEN

Cleanaway is proud to launch Round 4 of its $50,000 Melbourne Regional Landfill Community Benefit Fund to support projects that enhance the local environment and/or promote health and well-being in the community.

Applications for funding from $2,000 up to $10,000 will be considered from not for profit organisations, Friends Groups, welfare agencies, schools or environmental groups located in Caroline Springs, Deer Park and surrounding areas.

Our aim is to support local community initiatives through this Fund such as: sustainable ideas, environmental regeneration projects, waste reduction and/or programs that promote community health and well-being, events, sporting activities, training and employment schemes

Examples of eligible funding projects include:

  • Activities that enhance the local environment such as tree planting, litter collection or other types of environmental regeneration programs.
  • Construction of gardens, greenhouses or compost systems to promote waste reduction.
  • Installation of solar panels or additional recycling bins in schools or community buildings.
  • Charity groups or welfare programs that support communities in need.
  • Sporting activities or community events that promote community inclusion and well-being.
  • Training or employment assistance schemes.

Applications

Cleanaway will publicly promote the availability of the Fund as follows:

  1. Advertise for Expressions of Interest in local newspapers:
    – Caroline Springs Community Update
    – Cairnlea Community Update
    – Melton and Moorabool Star Weekly newspaper
    – Brimbank and Northwest Star Weekly newspaper
  2. Promote on Melton and Brimbank Council websites.
  3. Promote on Cleanaway website.
  4. Advertise in local publications and promote on social media.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for grant funding:

  1. Must be a Friends Group, charitable or not for profit organisation, environmental agency, school or volunteer group located in Caroline Springs, Deer Park or neighbouring areas
  2. Project must align with the assessment criteria and/or provide tangible benefits to the community or the local environment
  3. Project must be completed within 12 months
  4. Eligible groups may only apply for one grant per financial year

Ineligible projects

Applications will not be considered if:

  • Project does not align with the funding criteria and/or guidelines provided
  • Applications are not completed or submitted using the appropriate paperwork
  • Commercial enterprises
