Recently the team at Cleanaway’s Mandurah branch had the opportunity to make a dream come true for three-year-old Roman Hill, just days before he was to undergo surgery to repair a hole in his heart.
Led by Cleanaway Customer Service Officer, Loise Lambert, the team organised for three trucks to visit Roman at his home and give him a chance to get up close with his favourite fleet.
Roman’s mum, Becky, wrote about the visit on Facebook under a page set up to chronicle her son’s medical journey, she said, “something magical happened to us today”.
“Our 3 year old son Roman is obsessed with bin trucks. Literally plays with them all day, watches them on YouTube, sits in our driveways with us every Thursday waiting for them and even gets them painted on his face.
“Our beautiful friends called up Cleanaway asking if one of the drivers could slow down and wave. Three trucks and a fleet of drivers rocked up on my street to give us tours, beep the horn and teach Roman about them. It was a pretty special surprise. The staff at Cleanaway are amazing.”
Loise received the original call through the customer service desk and knew we could do more than just a wave. Drivers Steve Jones, Ralph Baker and Nigel Lambert, as well was Operations Supervisors Brad Smith and David Francis, were on hand to give Roman a go behind the wheel and show him the ropes.
Operations Supervisor Brad Smith said, “The smile on Roman’s face was unbelievable. It was a pleasure to meet such a huge truck fan, and make a wish come true.”
Roman will have surgery on Tuesday.
