Cleanaway recently proudly supported an art exhibition that invites artists to be inspired by the imaginative transformation of household trash into beautiful works of art.
For the fifth year, Cleanaway sponsored the annual Hornsby Shire Council and Hornsby Art Society’s ‘Re-magine’ Art Exhibition at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.
The free exhibition highlights resource recovery, through challenging artists to reimagine recovered waste products and materials as art.
The categories included 3D sculpture, mixed media, wearable/ functional art and ‘Young Creative’ for youth.
As the domestic waste and recycling contractor for the Hornsby Shire Council, Cleanaway supported another award for ‘excellence in resource recovery and reuse’.
Cleanaway staff were involved in judging the competition and attended the awards night, which launched the exhibition on Friday, June 3.
Michael Sankey, Regional Manager for the Cleanaway Sydney Municipal Business awarded the prize winners at the opening night.
“Cleanaway are proud to partner with Hornsby Shire Council and Hornsby Art Society to demonstrate a unique opportunity for resource recovery through art,” Michael says.
Selected entrants will have their recovered art work on display at the Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, at 25 Edgeworth David Dr Hornsby, until Sunday, 19 June 2016.
